JACKSON C. FRANCKS - Blues Run The Game (1965/75)

Compilation that includes, I think, pretty much what saved Jackson C. Franks, the saddest singer in the world. Msuique side, folk-inspired song frankly, may be what has been more moving between 1960 and now. Goosebumps every 2 seconds, and a vague melancholy with each listen. Even the most allergic can appreciate the songwriting, which is simply outstanding. Forget the cover of Simon & Garfunkel title "Blues Run The Game", the original is light years ahead.

Sufjan Stevens - Greetings from Michigan, The Great Lake State (2003)

Discovery due to chance, but big favorite this year. Foutraque enough sonic space, brass, banjo, guitar, strings, keyboards, drums ... It navigates between folk and serious but fun indie rock just as full of coolness a bit trendy, but the titles are so well written that it works at full capacity . The bonus is really special voice, slightly boring again, deceptively fragile and tremulous, as if Matt was a nerd Boggaerts New York as a guest star of "How I Met Your Mother." The re-bonus is that the man provides serious banjo, and I I like the banjo, oh yes I like it. Special mention under "For the Widows in Paradise, For the Fatherless in Ypsilanti, unstoppable despite tube, I quote a person super bad faith, one side a little music" Babos Irish. " Artwork quite amusing, but again a little scruffy side hype.

ALL NATURAL - Elements: Fire (2008)

All Natural has eaten the lion. It's almost too much for the boom bap all the Senate, but it beats quite effectively so that one does not regret these samples and ultra crafty cinematic had made "Second Nature" album has a store in the Hall Of Fame hip hop. In short, welcome to the 90's: straight-level flow, the beats and scratch. Note that this is the first disc of a series of 4 on the elements, with an ambience suited for each pancake. Fave.

MI AND THE NEXT - s / t (2005)

Folk written it seems self-sufficient in a cabin in Finland. We do not care a bit, actually. It is therefore a folk duo who practice a fairly urban, basically, not so remote that it's generated soundscape by Michael Gira, and more whispered, more subtle too. Incidentally, the disc was released on Young God. The two voices blend very well, sometimes it's nice to whine in, often gray, like a Sunday morning in February to Hagondange, but under the covers anyway. Ok, I'm not clear, but the goal is to listen to this record. So try it, even if in the long run it a little bit bored.

WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM - Malevolent Grain (2009)

New EP released by Southern Lord in standard design with a superb cover for audiophiles and Picture Disc (also ugly) and certainly no one in his crappy (PD requires) in Conspiracy for nerds, who will buy both anyway. Musically, not revolution. Reminds me a bit more their first album "Diadem of ..." than the latter. In short, I was already a client and I have covered for a dollar. To make long, black metal that is not ultra-melodic, epic but not blank-blank, with a side A slow track sung by Jamie Myers (which had pushed the song on "Diadems ..") and yelled a fast track side B. Fave.

PENTEMPLE - O))) Presents ... (2008)

Noise strangely fascinating. Noise Black Metal Vs Hype Vs.

SUNN O))) - Domkirke (2008)

Noise strangely boring.

REINO Ermitaño - Rituales Interiores (2008)

doom pure juice, and more rock than metal, that is to say most 70's / Pentagram / St. Vitus Candlemass that, entirely sung in English, from Peru. I did German at school, but it seems that the texts are owls. In any case, they are (somewhat) well sung by a young lady to stamp neither serious nor acute, which n'insupporter the advantage of anyone. The sound is nice, the hideous artwork, a constant throughout their discography, consisting of three excellent albums (reviews to follow). Frankly recommendable if you too like doom.

OCEAN - Pantheon Of The Lesser (2008)

Grief you brought, finally, peace and love. Ocean brings famine, pestilence and misery. Its well-balanced for maximum effect. Beautiful artwork.

Sundown - Glimmer (1999)

A certain vision of modern metal 10 years ago. I listened to this album a lot, despite his side golgoth it must admit a little putassier. The melodies are pretty damn good ¾ of the time, singing in place (which is rare enough to be reported). Some EBM and industrial slag (when required) rajoutent spice (or disgusting) from time to time. The texts by cons are inept at possible, as elsewhere in Cemetery, former group chief Mathias Lodmalm unique. An example? "We're cosmic relics, space Keeps us cold. / / We're Cryogenics, Baby, never getting old. " It is the refrain. Some chips, however, including "[22]" and "Halo."

OCEAN CHIEF - Tor (2006)

Doom for lovers of his fat and weight ... well ... heavy? The album is still quite good to avoid boredom, but that does not shoot at, as some do, type in pace (slow) his genitals on the desktop. The production is super class. A good way to vary your pleasures if we want to hear urgently Sleep or Electric Wizard. The song is quite unbearable in the long, very long (85 minutes, 4 tracks).

OCEAN CHIEF / Runemagick - The Northern Lights Split (2007)

Ocean Chief: Still too long, but better.

Runemagick: Always as good, but even better.

Unorthodox - Awaken (2008)

I was not expecting this album even more, since the last, the almost perfect "Balance Of Power" dated from 1995. Sacred remembrance in the sight of the logo. I bought the aforementioned disc completely by chance by asking the seller of a secondhand store for CDs if he had something "kind Cathedral. To return to our sheep, doom American rock in the great tradition Wino and Co. Ca groove, the melodies are superb, singing very American, and I adore. Final loop on my plate. And special mention under "awaken". Fave Fave FAVE FAVE !!!!!!!!

PS: The one that says it is grunge, I stick my foot in the ass. Note the presence on drums of the always excellent Gary Isom (Spirit Caravan, Iron Man, Pentagram, etc. Wretched.).

CONIFER - Crown Fire (2008)

I said it very difficult for this group. But then, they are coming from the big anything. Super Drive heavy music in general. Post-foo, sludgy Trucmuche. Really good, oh yes. Nice artwork.

Austrasians THE GOAT - Piano And Stump (2008)

If art is really difficult is to make a dark music that is not pathetic . Again, the Goat succeeds very well. Compared to the rest of his discography, there moments "lighter" ... say less apocalyptic, which are really significant. The purely musical progression is again impressive, so much so that I wonder where it will stop. It's been so long since I expected more each new release of a "group" at that point ... It is one that you take, you are naked and leave you in the cold, alone and with nausea . Much the only image that comes to me, and I'm sorry, but there it is. The artwork is obviously superb.

OTESANEK / LOSS / ORTHODOX / Mournful Congregation - Four Burials (2008)

Four titles, more than 51 minutes snorkeling, or almost. For those who do not know any of these groups, say that each has its own vision of slowness. The only break is in fact that Orthodox for 18 minutes (still) remains in the clear. I especially like Loss that demonstrates a mastery of melody that kills so obvious. Mournful Congregation is slightly annoying cons. But hey, chopper anyway.

ESTELLE - Shine (2007)

An album is he going public beyond the single that launched? Here is the single reinforced concrete and would stomp a bowl of ass fan of black metal, a bulldozer of the dancefloor, the super famous "American Boy". Well actually, yes, this album is cool to death. Well I thought of Estella, namely sobriety and correctness amazing voice, combine with music choices actually quite varied (soul, reggae rasta without ooh yeah, funk, r 'n'b ...) so that the disc is as a letter in the mail. Sunshine production course, but everything is in the title. Loop. It sounds sometimes when the Fugees had class.

BEYONCE - I Am ... Sasha Fierce (2008)

Huge disappointment, a single bright and then goes away. The first part is the pop / soup so unpalatable that even Lara refuses to sing. The second begins with "Single Ladies", a REAL tube. Alone. The end unfolds its pretensions dancefloor electro Suck. Bring us the real Beyonce, LOUD please.

DIZZEE RASCAL - Dance Wiv Me EP (2008)

Dizzee combines the singer born 20 years too late Calvin Harris (the tube "Acceptable in the 80's, it's him) for the single most exciting I've heard this year. Interplanetary tube. Dance + 80's + Funk = moves down a little, damn!!

DIZZEE RASCAL - Maths + Français (2007)

The little jerk the most gifted of his generation. The album feels oddly more American than the previous two, less grime, but the spirit is still there. It also clearly cleaner, easier to access. And again, surprisingly, it is always as good. Good attention, the lyrics are in the same vein ("Suk My Dick" for example). Lots of hits that will make you dance with a baseball bat.
